My heart is breaking a little bit right now. My darling little Matthew is upstairs crying his little eyes out.

You see, we've been having a bit of a problem with him at night. We put him into the "big boy bed" in the same room as Emma. Emma quickly drifts off to sleep. Matthew waits until she is slumbering and then gets out of bed, turns on the light, strips naked (diaper is optional), empties drawers, and pillages Emma's toys that she won't let him touch during the day. And he does it all oh so quietly so we don't usually even know that he's out of bed until he comes out, naked and wide awake.

So we started putting him in the crib for a few minutes if we caught him out of bed. He'd cry and cry and then we'd warn him not to get out of bed again and he would stay in bed and go to sleep. Until he caught on to the fact that we always put him back in his bed after a few minutes.

So tonight we are leaving him in there all night, hoping to squelch the nightly escapades once and for all. And he is crying hysterically, alternately calling "Mommy!" then "Daddy," hiccoughing endlessly. All of his "big boy" sensitivities terribly bruised by the return to the crib.

Maybe if I just turn up the TV a little louder to drown out the wailing...

I am adding a new button to my sidebar. It is a link to a blog about the sweetest little family. They have two children with life threatening illnesses that need a liver and kidney transplant each. I don't know them, but do feel particularly interested in them as I have a dear friend with the same disease. She has had three kidney transplants and a liver transplant. She also has two sisters with the same disease who have also had to have the transplant.

There are auctions being held now through November 16th to raise money for this family and it seems like it could be the perfect place to do some Christmas shopping!
