Emma

It is difficult for me to describe the many and varied ways that my little Emma delights me...day after day. And maybe Jonny and I are the only ones that find her overwhelmingly and consumingly adorable and if I try to describe it all you'd be bored. That being said, let me share a few choice moments with my sweet little bug (her nickname, derived from bug-a-boo).

The other day she came out and announced that she was going to play baseball, and then changed into this outfit. How she knows what baseball players wear is beyond me, since we don't watch much of that around here...which is maybe how the diaper came into play as part of the "uniform."

What is there really to say about this one? A princess skirt and an empty wipe box=hours of entertainment for a two year old on a rainy day.

She has finally overcome her apathy/irritation with Matthew for coming along and stealing some of the glory around here. Now she is crazy about him! And the feeling is mutual. He is grins and giggles every time she walks in the room. She has become an invaluable asset when I am trying to get something done around the house and he is fussing. I just tell her to go talk to Matthew and make him happy and she is on it! She sings, dances, spits (my personal favorite - yuck) anything to make him happy.

Happy birthday last week to my sweet sister-in-law Sachele and to Jonny's niece, Katie. Sorry I'm a bit late...crazy times!

The Dark Side of Addiction

You never think that your Diet Coke addiction will harm your children, until one day you are squeezing the lemon to go in your delicious iced beverage and the juice from the lemon goes shooting out and lands right on the eyeballs of your little seven month old baby...

Fun Firsts in our Fam...

Matthew learned how to play peek-a-boo. He ducks his little sweet head down under the edge of his carseat and pops it back up with a huge grin. Melts my heart every time.

Matthew sat up by himself for the first time on Christmas Day.

Emma unrolled the entire roll of toilet paper. The first time she did it, I was almost glad. It's kind of a childhood rite of passage, you know? The second time she did it I was more irritated than amused.

Emma went to her first Chuck E. Cheese birthday party. It was during her nap time and she ended up being all shy and tired and sitting on her daddy's lap the whole time, but she still talks with great enthusiasm about "Kuck E. Teese."

Happy New Year!

Jonny and I are pretty much Dullsville, USA - on New Year's Eve we partied down by watching a movie after the kids went to bed! Yahoo! But that wasn't all, Jonny got me a container of Ben & Jerry's too. I know, I know, we're livin' large.

Anyhoosers, the next day we had the best time! We went to San Jose and went to this great little park/zoo. It was so perfect for Miss Emma - all the toys were made for little people and they had some fun animals at the zoo (including the world's largest rodent).

For me, the real fun started after that. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. I soooo love that restaurant! It has been about 5 years since I have eaten there, and I was worried that I was remembering it better than it actually was. Not to worry. The first bite put all my fears to rest and, perhaps more importantly, now Jonny has a testimony of the The Cheesecake Factory as well. Emma wanted to eat butter the whole time, yes butter, so I let her. I wanted to relax and soak up the moment rather than fighting with the two year old who needed a nap, so I just let her sit there and eat butter. She could use some fattening up anyway...
