It has been really hot here the last couple of days. Really really hot. And pretty much nowhere here has air conditioning because it is usually so temperate. So we've been roasting. We even made our restaurant decision tonight based on which place we were certain would have air conditioning.
Last night we had all the windows open trying to cool the house off. I said to Jonny, "Knock on wood, but we haven't had many skunks around lately." Usually once it gets dark we have to close all the windows because there are so many of those nasty critters around here. Well naturally less than five minutes after I said that Jonny and I looked at each other with panic in our eyes as the first whiffs of skunk spray came wafting through the open windows. Hence, the skunk scramble. Who can run around and close all the windows in the house fastest? I don't know who was fastest, but it was way too slow. We spent the whole night in a hot, smelly house. Maybe I shouldn't have just said, "Knock on wood." Maybe I should have actually knocked. Where did that saying come from anyway?

And I thought I had it bad with the mountain lions and owls! I love the warm weather when I can be out in it, but not so much when I'm stuck in a hot house with no air conditioning. Today felt much better.
We did the exact same thing. I was just telling Kevin that I hadn't smelt any skunks and everyone had warned me about them. Then we smelt it!! Oh how lovely.
I just saw THREE skunks across the street. They must love it here! Thanks for iviting me to your blog. It is adorable!!

Ahhh, the skunk story brings back such fond memories....like watching the skunk on one side of the gate and Porter on the other! By the way, what do you have to say to have your comment deleted by the blog administrator? ;) Love, MOM
