I had a dream the other night that I was at Carmel Beach with Jonny and the kids. It was heaven. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed to wake up and find myself in frozen-ville USA and still sans husband to boot.
But to lift my spirits and perhaps yours, let me just say that:
Sophie stuck a pea up her nose last week. I was not a witness to the actual insertion and I couldn't figure out why she kept crying and saying "nose" and sticking her finger up there. Then all of the sudden it hit me..."I bet she stuck a pea up her nose!!" I had to get a flashlight to see it because she had shoved it up there so far. We made a trip to the after hours clinic for the removal. I could not stop laughing.
Matthew and I were driving in the car together and he asked me, "Mom. Can you turn on 'Coming to America?'" Jonny loves Neil Diamond and always plays it for the kids and they LOVE 'Coming to America.' I looked back in the rear view mirror and he was tapping his feet to the music and just singing along for all he was worth. And then, you know the part in the song where they shout, "Today!"? Every time Sophie heard that she would throw her arms up in the air and shout, "Hooray!" I kind of felt like my heart might burst with happiness.
And Emma was writing Christmas thank you cards. She is still working on learning to write and so I wrote down the message for her to copy: 'Dear Mimi and Papa. Thank you for my pink boots." Well, she labored and labored and then held it up for me to see. It read, "Thank you for my pink boob." WHAT?! I looked back at the words I had written for her to copy. They said boots. But the t and the s were kind of smooshed together. So there you have it. Thanks for the pink boob.

amanda, you are so loveable. honestly. i really like you.
ask tiff about neil diamond. we had some good times to him. never mind, please don't ask her.
someone should tell mimi and papa that boobs usually come in pairs. are they just cheap or what?
Two funny things:
1. my dad loves Neil Diamond and so do I and Matt hates him. But you can't beat 'Coming to America'. You can't.
2. Matt's parents are Mimi and Papa too!
Oh, and 3. hooray for days (or even just moments) that make you burst with happiness!
I loved your post! Coming to America has some significance for your family since Jonny will soon be doing that! I love the picture of the kids in their holiday getup. They look so cute! I love the green. Where did you find those dresses? They remind me of our Show and Chamber dresses from high school.
i salute you for being so positive, unfortunately, i am having a very hard time with that right now.
i am going to try and follow your example...starting with a nice dream.
I dream of Carmel. I think that's the curse of living there temporarily. You long for it the rest of your life :(
I dream of carmel too. One night we were at dinner and a neil diamond song came on and I started singing and Cory's family thought I was crazy. What? Don't you know The Jazz Singer??? I love the Christmas picture.
Ahhhh, the Volcansek's and their Neil Diamond. I am totally smiling right now thinking of Matthew.

Don't trick me like that. I had hopes you were back because (don't hate me) we are going back in June. Miss you!
haha so cute! I love those kiddos. I never did get to see them in their cute dresses and sweater vest I love the picture
someday we'll all be able to go back again. Maybe we'll get rich and move there when we get out!
Yes you, should go out for a visit. We will be there at the end of June. His class starts the 30th so will be there a week or so before to find a place to live. If you go let me know and we will have to meet up.
They're adorable beautiful fabulous kiddos Manders - love the Christmas photo! And, on the brighter side of Frozen-ville USA East Coast style - I'm thoroughly enjoying the dirty snow + trash piled sky high. NYC Sanitation. It rocks. xo
