I am a temporarily single mom. I am pregnant. It snows incessantly here. And so it is that my kids need cartoon rehab. I used to be such a cartoon Nazi - half hour in the morning and half hour in the afternoon - and now they are on all the time.

I told my mom the other day that after things settled down a little - you know, give birth, get husband back, get own place to live, etc. - I was going to have the TV on less. She asked me if I really thought things were going to settle down after having another baby...I guess she's right.

And speaking of interventions/rehab, I need some junk food rehabilitation myself. I am a temporarily single mom. I am pregnant. And it snows incessantly here. And so it is that my nightly bowl of Rocky Road or some other delicious treat gets me through this cold winter. Until last week when I apparently failed my glucose screening and do not have gestational diabetes but do have a "glucose intolerance." How serious could that be, really? The doctor told me to stay away from cake, cookies, ice cream, candy, and soda. Pretty much all the things that bring me joy in life. I was at the grocery store the other day staring at the donuts thinking, "He didn't specifically mention donuts..."

I had brownies and ice cream almost every day when I was preg with Katie, with Isaac it was apples and PB. Must be a boy/girl thing. Did he specify chocolate? Cause chocolate covered pretzels are my current fav!!
and I think that if he didn't mention donuts, then you should eat them. Wait, maybe not. SORRY!!
oh, and life definitely gets crazier. Some days I think the T.V. is on all day. Of course, other days not at all. So good luck with that.
well, if it's an intolerance and not bothering you, then i say go ahead and enjoy yourself! honestly when i was pregnant, it was the only time i really enjoy food. feed that baby! take care! i hope the time goes quickly for your hubby to return. this single parenting thing just stinks, believe me i know.
I know what you mean. After an fun/expensive shopping trip to Target today that replaced Missy's nap, we watched tv till bedtime. Awwwwww....how nice. Do what you can...that's all you have to do. Miss you!
Yay! I'm glad you got to spend some time together for V-Day. It must be hard to be apart so much!
Seriously, is watching cartoons the worst thing that could ever happen to them? I have a feeling Mom losing it because they aren't watching cartoons is way worse! :)
Hang in there Amanda... we only have about 10 weeks left til the babies come!!! Candy and sugar has been the way I've dealt with this pregnancy! I definitely didn't do that last time. Maybe the doctor will give me my glucose report tomorrow at my appointment!!! :(
And I have to say that I love Emma's "Yes your majesty!" comment while bowing on a knee. Too cute! I think I might kind of like that too!!!
I love your sense of humor about the whole thing. That will get you through the tough times even better than sugar! I love you!
Well, the way I see it, "Noggin" is pre-school on TV. They can learn so much more by watching Franklin than they could running laps in the house, right?? Thank heaven for cable!
And, I'm right with you on the rocky road ice cream. I've downed 1/2 the container in the last 3 days. Oops.

Oops. Sorry about the comment inflation there. My mouse was stuck.
ha ha!
i am laughing because we eat microwave popcorn for dinner when colin is out of town...and now that he is going to be gone for up to 2 months at a time, i think it's time for me to have an intervention as well...
isn't there some on-line class we can take where it will teach us how to properly feed our children (and ourselves) when daddy isn't home and we have lost the will to care?
i would take that class.
