Las Vegas

So, the trip to San Diego. We were planning on leaving on a Friday and driving all day to get there. But on Thursday Jonny said, "Let's leave today and spend a night in Las Vegas." I was thrilled to only drive halfway and panicked to try and get everything ready that same day. That's my spontaneous husband for you!

We got to Las Vegas when it was already dark. We drove down the strip and the kids loved seeing all the lights. Emma kept saying, "Like, this is so amazing. Like, wow." She says like all the time now. Even Sophie kept pointing out the window. It was fun to see them so excited.

Jonny got us a sweet hotel on priceline.com. We were on the 25th floor and I had to try hard not to freak out because I am crazy afraid of heights and naturally our children were climbing up on the window sill with their little bodies pressed up against the window looking down.

While the girls were in the bath I poked my head out in the front room to check on Matthew and had a good laugh. He had figured out how to turn on the radio and it was blaring some dance mix and he was jumping on the hide-a-bed in his super hero jammies and Lightening McQueen slippers. He's just partying in Vegas...

We decided that we definitely wanted to hit the pirate ship at Treasure Island and the Bellagio before we got on the road.

Jonny wanted to drive from Treasure Island to the Bellagio, and I wanted to walk.

"We'll be in the car all day and a walk will do us good. It's not that far!"

It was that far. On the way home I was tired and hot and wished I had listened to my husband. But we got our exercise for the day. I cannot be held accountable for the shabby state of Sophie's hair. No matter what I put in it - ponytails, clips - she pulls them out. With lightening speed, I tell you.

The flowers at the Bellagio...

Waiting for the fountains to start. They never did. Apparently they were having some maintenance done on them that day. Sad.

Emma pouting because the fountains weren't working at the Bellagio...

I'm so glad that you got to have a nice family trip. I'm anxious to hear about the rest. p.s. We're working on taking naps at our house. 30 minutes a day of sleep just isn't enough for a 4-month-old. Today was a crying-it-out day. McKay and I are both exhausted. Thankfully it's 7:00 and he's asleep for the night. He's a pro at nighttime. I'll give him that much. Anyway...looks like I need a girlfriend/fellow mommy to talk to, huh? ;-)

We have always wanted to do Vegas with the kids - there is so much fun stuff - good for you having a last horrah - we went to the temple - that was about all we could handle with our busy crazy schedules - oh well - how are things going? It is good here - we see Dan everyday on the video phone so it keeps the kids happy and Bryce can show Dan EVERYTHING that he has done for the day. I have to hand it to you - you are more of a woman than I could be - I am wondering if I can do it with 2 kids.

Love the Belagio. Last time we went it was to windy for the foutains. Sounds like fun!
