Hooray! Hallelujah! What a wonderful day!

About 4 days ago I decided to really get serious about potty training Emma - she's been wearing panties all day unless we had to go somewhere or when she was sleeping. She had one accident the first day and one the second and then we had two accident free days! While the accident free days made me happy, I was still perplexed because the child would not go to the bathroom on the toilet (despite the fact that we got her a cool Winnie the Pooh toilet that makes a flushing noise when you go...). So even though she has been on the toilet literally hundreds of times, she has still never gone on the toilet. That is a very integral part of the whole potty training concept. I just kept telling myself that we were making progress - she was learning control. Because clearly it takes some control to hold it until I put a diaper back on her and then open the floodgates...

Today from the time she woke up from her nap (2pm) until dinner time (5pm) she had 3 accidents. Needless to say, we were getting discouraged. And then it happened. Jonny took her back to sit on the toilet and she went ONE DROP in the little bowl. Well, she could have gone a gallon, we were so excited. I actually got tears in my eyes. It was something. She got to put stickers on a chart, eat chocolate chips, and turn on a cartoon.

The blessed child went two more times after that, with the quantity increasing each time. I think she is finally getting the hang of it! I realize we are far from out of the woods, but today's activities give me hope for a brighter day! Hooray hooray hooray!

We are so proud of you Emma! Congratulations to the proud parents as well. Emma looks beautiful in this picture, but then I don't think I have ever seen her look anything but cute as a button.
