I think it will only take one time driving for six hours with the kids and without Jonny to make the same proclamation! My parents and some of my siblings all met up this past week in Newport Beach. I love love LOVE Southern California and have spent many a happy vacation there with friends before I got married. I have not been back since we got married and I have been missing it soooo much. So much that I was crazy enough to embark on the journey with the kids. It wasn't like anything so terrible happened, but I think it did take a couple years off my life! Once we finally arrived, it was dreamy.
We stayed at a great place thanks to my parents...
Emma and Matthew had a great time playing with their sweet cousin, Thomas...
Pretty much no day goes by that Emma does not pretend that she has a baby in her tummy...
And we even got to go to Bakersfield, where my parents grew up, and hit our favorites, Smith's Bakery and Dewar's. I have to teach my children from a young age where to get the best donuts and ice cream in the world!

I love reading what Emma says, she is so funny! I don't know if you've read my blog lately but Sydney just said something like to me. Only she used the word FAT. And to top it all off the other day a lady at the store asked me if I was my younger sister's mom! My sister is almost 21!!!!
o fun! i heart newport beach too - not the beach part...or the ocean...kidding! :) seriously, it is gorgeous there! i didn't realize your parents were from bakersfield - reminder to self: go to Dewar's for some good food. you've got some cute kiddos lady! :)
After talking with you today about how horrible it is to travel with kids, I decided to book my trip!! I realized, hey it is hard for everyone to travel with kids, but sometimes the benefits outweigh the hardships. Thanks for watching Lilia and for being a good friend!
so sorry I missed you there!!
I love the pictures and commentary! I think Emma looks exactly like you when you were younger in the picture with Thomas. I am glad to know that Emma is also with child as often as her cousin Liesel! Funny little girls, aren't they! I love reading about all the hilarious things that Emma says. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and a chuckle to my...uh...throat?
LOL, Emma's a pretty funny little girl. Thanks for letting Jayson stay at your house, and buster... And thanks for the recipe. Miss You~!!
