Our sweet Emma is five years old today! I asked her what she wanted to do to celebrate her birthday today and she said, "Ummm, eat candy and play games!"
And actually she has completely bamboozeled me into giving her a birthday party for all her friends. I had no intention of doing a friend party this young, but she just decided that she was going to have one (about three months ago) and has been inviting people to it ever since then! She'd get in the car after preschool and say, "I invited Abby to my birthday party!" She even invited people the first time she met them. Sheesh. So we are having a little party for her this weekend.
Forgive me for being too personal if this is too personal, but the day we blessed Emma Jonny told her that she would have a lot of trials in her life. Afterwards he told me again that he had the strongest feeling that she would have a lot of trials in her life. Here I was, a new mom of this little angel baby, and I just wanted to clutch her to me and run away and keep her safe from whatever he was talking about! I kept thinking, "Why are you telling me this?! Don't say these things!" Now I have more of an idea of what he was talking about, and hope that's all there was but am afraid not. I am so impressed with the grace and good attitude that Emma has maintained throughout this last year. She is such a good example to me of faith and perseverance.
Thank you Emma for all the joy and life (and drama!) you bring into our lives!

Happy Birthday to a Fabulous 5 year old. We can't wait to see you next week.
Oh sweet Emma, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Do you share a birthday with a little cousin?!?) She really is such an amazing example to us, Amanda. Please keep me on the list. I need my "Magic of Motherhood" fix! :)
*tear* Happy Birthday Emma!
P.S. I'm so glad you write down all the things your kids say because they are HILARIOUS!
What a precious little girl. :-)
Such cute pictures of her! How they grow up so quickly! Hope she had a great birthday!
Happy birthday, Emma!
I most definitely want to be invited to view your blog (one weird comment from a weird guy I didn't know sent me that way fast!). Mainly so I can keep up with the poop chronicles, and periodically let you know how awesome you are because you're going to want to hear that every once in a while (even if you yelled all day long and know it isn't true:) ).
Oopsy, you're going to need this:

Okay, last time I'm going comment, I swear. I just read the yogurt thing and I'm sure you've tried everything but I couldn't get my girls to eat it either so I tried these:
-let them add a couple shakes of sprinkles, any color they want.
-get vanilla yogurt and let them add raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, you get the idea.
Good luck!
Happy Birthday Emma! I would've wanted to clutch the baby to me and run too after that blessing!!! Hang in there!
I've never met Emma, but after reading your blog, I want to give the birthday girl a great big hug myself! I know she'll be fine, whatever comes though, because she's got a great momma.
P.S. Be sure to invite me to your blog party when it goes private! stephkearl(at)gmail(dot)com
Happy Birthday Emma! Your cousin, Liesel, was thrilled by your phone invitation to come to your party. She couldn't understand why we didn't drive all the way from Texas to come to it. Wish we all could have been there to celebrate with you. We love you!
Way cute gal with the hat. Love it! Oh and thanks for the invite. I surely wouldn't want to miss out reading about all the craziness of your life, and your cute kiddos.
